The dollar price is sinking in Argentina: Help!
Following the easing of currency controls, the price of the dollar (now unregulated) has begun to fall. This creates a new advantage for those looking to expand their investment portfolios. Two paths are opening up: the traditional market and digital assets (the famous crypto dollar). Let's explore the options and the reasons driving new investors.

More and more people are investing
Regardless of the investment method you choose, if you live in Argentina, you know there is inflation. Historically, we have always had inflation in our local currency. In recent months, we have also learned what it is like to have dollar inflation (ouch!). Furthermore, we know that if the current government's dollarization plans do not materialize, it is possible that inflation will return sooner rather than later. Therefore, the first thing any cautious investor thinks about is protecting themselves against inflation.
Could there be other reasons to invest? We live in Argentina, so there is no doubt about that: having a second income would be more than welcome for all of us, thinking about adding a few pesos to the sad pension that awaits us at the end of our active life, or building an emergency fund in case we lose our jobs are just some of the reasons that lead us to look for investment options. The good thing is that with the dollar low, the options are many and are increasingly within reach of more people.
Now, what investment options are available to Argentines? At first glance, we have to distinguish between two totally different groups: the traditional market, also known as "the stock market," and the digital asset market, where you find cryptos or cryptocurrencies.
Traditional debt instruments
Traditional debt instruments are divided into fixed-income and variable-income instruments and are usually purchased through a broker, although some can also be acquired through bank accounts. Previously, to buy many of these instruments, it was necessary to perform a MEP dollar transaction and wait for the corresponding parking period. This step was eliminated with the new currency easing, which makes many investors lean towards this alternative.
Within fixed-income instruments, one of the favorites among Argentines is negotiable obligations, which are debt securities issued by companies to obtain financing. These negotiable obligations pay interest (similar to a fixed-term deposit) until their maturity, the date on which the invested capital is returned.
Other debt instruments worth mentioning are company stocks, treasury bonds (national or foreign), and bills.
The advantages? The backing of traditional banking and the ease of access from most home banking platforms. The disadvantages? Intellectual complexity: the breadth of options also increases the chances of making mistakes, and if you do not have good advice, you could suffer large losses. At the same time, brokers charge commissions, and advisors also charge theirs; not losing money could cost you dearly.

The digital asset revolution
Now, as everything evolves, investments have not been immune to progress, and for several years now, investors have also begun to choose digital assets. Relax, I'm not telling you to go out and buy a Bitcoin that costs more than 80,000 dollars in January 2026. Within cryptocurrencies, there are also stablecoins like USDT, USDC, or DAI, which have parity with the US dollar, can be bought with Argentine pesos, and are also a way to protect your capital against inflation.
Once you have bought a stablecoin, you can use it to buy other cryptos, earn interest by staking (locking the coins for a certain time), or participate in launchpool programs to get coins from new projects; there are so many ways to earn money! A tip: turn on WEEX alerts to receive all cryptocurrency news and stay well-informed about what is happening in the crypto market.
The advantages? Access is simple; you just need to open an account on a trusted exchange and buy your first cryptos. Most sites have tutorials to guide you and demo modes so you can learn without losing money. The disadvantages? The lexicon can be a difficulty at first: it is a new world full of terms you don't know. First of all, put together a good glossary to clear up any doubts. (Many exchanges have glossaries in Spanish where you will be able to learn what you need, like this one).

Cryptocurrencies are an easy option for beginners: My Millennial conclusion
With the dollar price low, the best thing we Argentines can do is invest to ensure we have more dollars tomorrow when the trend changes. Even a few more dollars each month make a big difference in the long term thanks to the magic of compound interest, but we will talk about that later. Now, let's quickly review the pros and cons of each investment option.
| Traditional market | Cryptocurrencies | |
| Ease of access | Through HomeBanking, high, but without guidance. Through a broker, medium, requires creating and linking accounts. | High, only requires opening an account on a trusted exchange. |
| Learning curve | High, requires extensive and constant training. There is no test mode, operations are only done in real-time. | Medium, always do your own research (DYOR). You trade in demo mode to learn without losing money. |
| Security | High, traditional banking backing | High, transactions are unalterable via blockchain |
| Commissions | High | Very low |
| Availability | Traditional banking days and hours in the country | Every day of the year, at any time. |
| Support | Traditional business days and hours in the country | Every day of the year, at any time, through various means. |
